Myopia, commonly known as near-sightedness, has emerged as a global epidemic, impacting almost one in three individuals across the world. The increasing prevalence of myopia during early childhood has heightened the risk of developing high myopia and related sight-threatening eye conditions in adulthood. In this review, authors shed light on both established and potential environmental and lifestyle contributors that affect the development and progression of myopia.

The concept of metabolically obese, normal weight (MONW) has emerged to describe individuals with a normal body mass index (BMI) who are at a relatively high risk of chronic diseases. However, BMI itself is a suboptimal index for the assessment of the health risks associated with visceral fat. In this study, researchers aimed to determine the TyG index cut-off values that could be used to define MONW in older people and to determine the usefulness of these values for the prediction of chronic diseases.

Journal of Physiological Anthropology (JPA) is the official journal of the Japan Society of Physiological Anthropology. JPA is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that publishes research on the physiological functions of modern mankind, with an emphasis on the physical and bio-cultural effects on human adaptability to the current environment.

In 2024, Article Processing Charge (APC) to publish Journal of Physiological Anthropology is Â£1090.00/$1590.00/€1340.00. 

Journal of Physiological Anthropology is the official journal of the Japanese Society of Physiological Anthropology.
The Society offers partial sponsorship of Journal’s APC for its members publishing papers in this journal as the first author. 

Member authors are able to request this support during the post-acceptance process. There is no need to submit institution code at the time of manuscript submission.  During submission please 'agree to pay APC list price' to proceed, and request for discount afterwards.

Please contact the Administration Office or visit the Society website for further information. 

*those authors who were offered full APC coverage by the editor (for invited/solicited papers) should follow instruction from the editor on how to request the coverage.
